Intel at Cloud Expo Asia 2016
12 - 13 October, Singapore
Through keynote presentations and an Intel ® Builders Showcase highlighting technology partnerships with AIC*, QCT*, Brocade*, HyTrust*, Nutanix* and Zadora Storage*, Intel emphasised how cloud security and cloud technology can be deployed and managed across a variety of workloads and industries.
Journey to the Software Defined Infrastructure

Journey to the Software Defined Infrastructure

Eddie Toh, Regional Director (Data Center Platform Marketing), Intel APJ
In his keynote speech at Cloud Expo, Eddie Toh described the revolutionary impact of cloud computing: the rise of the digital service economy, and the speed at which business processes can now be completed. Insights are now achieved in a matter of seconds, not hours. Service delivery times are substantially reduced.

In this new business environment, IT takes on a central rather than supportive role. This presents a challenge to CIOs to make the transition to a more Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI). Besides delivering day to day reliability and availability, CIOs have to provide flexibility and service agility in a whole new way.

Addressing this issue, Eddie highlighted the Intel ® Builders programs, which work to ease deployment of cloud and SDI solutions. Underlining Intel’s commitment to simplifying the process of transition. Enabling the transformation of legacy environments, and helping businesses evolve in the digital age.

Data Sovereignty & Security in a Software Defined World

Data Sovereignty & Security in a Software Defined World

Sai Vaidyam, Product Manager, HyTrust
The move towards Software Defined Infrastructure is driven by the guarantee of far better agility, cost efficiency and availability – but what provision is there for data security and compliance manageability?

Sai Vaidyam’s presentation showed how HyTrust* Workload Security addresses all security and compliance concerns, enabling enterprises to adopt private and hybrid clouds with full confidence. Workload Security halts data breaches on all clouds, eliminates privileged access misuse, removes costly infrastructure air gaps, prevents accidental downtime, automates compliance, and more.

Using Intel ® Trusted Execution Technology (Intel ® TXT), HyTrust is one of the world’s few providers of geo-fencing to protect data sovereignty, with trusted attestation hard-coded into hardware. Eliminating the need for costly and inefficient siloed data centers, while helping organizations stay compliant by guaranteeing that their data never leaves the geo-boundary.

Enterprise Benefits of Deploying NFV

Enterprise Benefits of Deploying NFV

Eddie Toh, Regional Director (Data Center Platform Marketing),
Intel APJ Hoo Shu Yee, Director (IP & International Data), Singtel
With networks facing extraordinary demands as more devices become connected and new digital services are offered, Eddie Toh and Hoo Shu Yee highlighted the opportunities in applying the technical and business innovations that transformed data center compute – virtualization tech, cloud business models, volume server economics – to telecommunication network infrastructures.

Intel’s role in driving the Network Function Virtualization (NFV) necessary for network transformation includes investment in standards bodies, building an open source ecosystem, and collaborating with end users. Intel also provides fundamental technology, with OVS and DPDK packet processing, network-optimized SoC’s Intel ® Xeon ® D & Intel ® Atom C2000, and a carrier-grade cloud stack optimized for network.

Listeners were interested to hear Singtel’s view on the Telco Network transformation, and about the Singtel* ConnectPlus NFV service offering for enterprise customers.
